March 06th, 2016. Rhode Island.

Another one of the fabulous flights Ive ever done. After the frustration of trying to get airborne last night, (we had the balloon laid out and the winds switched 180 degrees in five minutes all the way to a few thousand feet....) an awesome flight this morning on the tiny tiny island of Aquidneck which is in Rhode Island. Why did we try and fly here? Well the entire state which itself is absolutely tiny - the smallest in the U.S. - is covered in trees. Simply proved so hard to find somewhere safe to fly and we then found the centre of this island which was relatively clear of trees. However, the flying area is around one mile wide by say two miles with built up area around the coast. Taking off from the very top of is area, we landed in virtually the last field before the Atlantic Ocean. Views were incredible as we climbed to get the track necessary to keep us in the centre of The island. Although we had permission to land at the friendly airfield, his wasnt open until 8am so we wouldnt have been able to retrieve... One of the most exhilarating flights Ive ever done, adjusting the track to ensure not flying out to sea but also ensuring we could make our minimum 15 minutes was intense. Fabulous fun and the trickiest of all the states in the bag. #34 Rhode Island.....
